ACE THE SAT/PSAT MATH SECTION?? Math Shortcuts by
Achievement Publishing, Inc. has a book that can help you do this amazing feat! This
workbook format gives thirty-four specific short cuts and techniques to arithmetic,
algebra, geometry, and geometry formula and reviews.
Each shortcut includes a clear step by step example about the mathematic problems
you will be learning the shortcut about. It gives hints about when to use this shortcut
and when not to use it. It gives the student exercises reinforcing the short cut learned.
Answers are available in the back. As a mathematically challenged person who has always
shied away from higher math I can attest that this book gives really easy explanations and
shortcuts to complicated mathematical problems. I also enjoyed the reinforcement exercises
at the end of the short cut to practice the new skill learned. This Homeschool mom found
it encouraging that after these detailed, clear explanations I could actually do the
problems. This manuscript also contains an extensive glossary and index to jog your
student's memory (or your own) if they have forgotten the terms. A clear summary of
geometry formulas and concepts to blow the cob webs off those long ago learned formulas
was also found throughout. . Now, this is one of the most important points. How much does
it cost? At $12.95 MATH SHORTCUTS is not only affordable but is also an effective way to
brush up on those important math skills needed to ACE the SAT and PSAT.
"Math drills . . . Ick!" Can be changed to "When can I do Marvelous
Math Mom?" Are you fighting negative attitudes about math drills at your home? This
program can help eliminate them. Marvelous Math is not a "shoot-em-up, blast-up
arcade game" geared toward thrills and excitement. This is a serious learning tool.
This computer program is for IBM-PC and is compatible with Windows. With daily 15 minute
sessions the student ascends to math fact mastery. M.M. teaches addition and subtraction,
multiplication and division by family-of the facts relationships and pictures of the
problems needed.
As a parent, I appreciated the fact that setting it up was easy. After the initial
set up, my son works 15 minutes daily for 3-4 days a week. This program kept track of his
progressive scores. Every time he plays the game, he is motivated to top his last score. I
particularly liked this aspect of the program because it kept track of his performance for
me! Let me tell you some other neat things it does: *minimizes frustration *advances with
undo pressure *tutors student *compliments students on correct answers *controls session
length *allows you to customize the sessions and much, much more!
